SAVANNAH STITT

Statement

My body of work is a collection of experiences and struggles that I have endured throughout my life. These struggles are personified into abstract and meaningful representations with serious and dark concepts paired with soft, shiny, and colorful pieces. Said pieces give undertones and context clues towards these concepts. Clues like color, tearing or broken work, and installation of work being a few. Each work is a separate piece of myself given its own portraiture while allowing for me to take time to process and work through many of the feelings these struggles give me as a form of coping and art therapy. Chronic Pain, Childhood trauma and how that affects you in adult hood, gender and sexual identity, and mental illness and physical disabilities are all topics I touch on and express within my body of work.
