Statement

Growing up I realized I have had a fascination with the female figure of all shapes and sizes. I have always drawn women and femmes, specifically those of Afrocentric femineity, in literal or representational ways. Most prominently were featured having big eyes with long lashes and/or lushest lips. I never really understood why my focus was always on the femininity of black women and femmes, I just knew that I enjoyed doing so. However, as I grew older, I started to realize how much it meant to have pieces that felt like they were a part of me more than a creative sense, but also in a visual sense.
