Statement

My body of work uses photography to address how I process grief. A lot of the work I shoot is in domestic spaces and in the lighting studio. The essence of my work involves themes of home and yearning for what was. As I am doing this, grief is the driving force, and photography is an outlet to process those feelings. The need for connection, specifically familial, is evident as objects of loved ones who have passed on. I want to incorporate spiritual symbolism within the home and play with the subconscious idea of my loved ones trying to connect with me, whether I'm aware of it or not. I would hope to be an advocate for helping people find their own way to grieve properly through this work and to be a voice that validate the feelings that accompany the grieving process.
